Nervous system in human body contains two type of systems. These includes central and peripheral nervous system. Central nervous system contains the brain and the spinal cord whereas peripheral nervous system consist of cranial nerves arising from brain and spinal nerves connected to spinal cord. Function of central nervous system is receive signals from the body and send response to muscles. Whereas, peripheral nervous system facilitate communication between central nervous system and different body parts.

Human Brain

Brain is main coordinating center of the body, as a result it allows thinking and taking decision based on thinking. Brain receives information from receptors in sense organs and sends back signal to nerves which further allows muscle movements. Moreover, human brain is delicate organ, therefore, it is placed in hard skull which also contains fluid filled balloon. This fluid prevents brain from shock. Spinal cord is protected with the help of Vertebral column(i.e. backbone). Human brain contains regions like Forebrain, Midbrain and Hindbrain.

Forebrain

Process of thinking takes place in forebrain. It receives sensory impulses from receptors like olfactory receptors in nose, gustatory receptors in tongue. Moreover, Forebrain contain different areas to analyse specific signals like hearing, smell, vision, etc. Incoming signals to forebrain is later compared with stored information and also with information of other receptors. On basis of incoming information decision is made and hence, appropriate signals are passed to correct places.

Midbrain and Hindbrain

Body performs various voluntary and involuntary actions. Voluntary actions are those which are in human control like running, pushing, etc. whereas, involuntary actions are those which not under human control like heartbeats, breathing, etc. In hindbrain, medulla controls blood pressure, salivation, heartbeat and breathing. Also, cerebellum in hindbrain is responsible for precision in voluntary actions like walking in straight line, balancing a bicycle.
