Constellation: Ursa Major, Orion, Cassiopeia It is one of the popular constellation seen in night sky during summer. It is also known as Big Dipper, The Great Bear or the Saptarshi. There are seven stars in this constellation. These seven stars appear as question mark or ladle. Out of seven stars three form the handle of ladle and four forms the bowl. Constellations appears to move from east to west but it does not change its shapes. Moreover this constellations helps to locate the pole star. The fact about pole star is all star appears to rotate around the pole star. Find Ursa major in clear moonless night of summer around 9:00 pm. An imaginary line passing through ending two stars of Ursa major leads to less bright star at about distance five times the distance between two stars. This star is pole star. If observed carefully this star has a fixed position. Moreover if minutely observed, one can also find that Ursa major rotates around the pole star. Other than Ursa Major, Orion is also a well known constellation in the sky. Orion is also called the Hunter. It can be seen during late evening of winter season. Three middle star in this constellations forms belt of hunter, whereas, four bright star appears as a quadrilateral. In our sky Sirius is the brightest star. One can locate Sirius by imagining a line passing through three middle stars of orion towards the east. The brightest star on this line is Sirius.
